Bury St Edmunds MP opens 25 new homes in Chevington Close
Jo Churchill, MP for Bury St Edmunds, officially opened Havebury Housing Partnership’s new housing development at Chevington Close, Bury St Edmunds on Friday 28 October.
Havebury’s new £3.7 million scheme, supported by over £900,000 of government grant from the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA) and £300,000 from the Adult and Community Services (ACS), provides 11 one and two-bedroom homes for affordable rent in Bury St Edmunds.
In addition it contains six one-bedroom Home Ownership properties for long-term disabled residents and eight one-bedroom homes for people that require assisted living support.
The attractive high quality homes, designed by Ingleton Wood and constructed by Cocksedge Building Contractors replace derelict buildings which had stood empty for some time on land that was gifted to Havebury by Suffolk County Council.
The ceremony included a plaque unveiling and speeches by Karen Mayhew, Chief Executive of Havebury, Julia Wakelam, Mayor of St Edmundsbury Borough Council and Jo Churchill, MP for Bury St Edmunds (all pictured above). Celebrations continued afterwards with refreshments at the West End Home Guard Club on Abbot Road, Bury St Edmunds.
