Community Support Service
Promoting Independence in the Community
What is the Community Floating Support Service?
The Community Floating Support Service is a confidential service giving advice and support to elderly and disabled residents to maintain their homes and continue to live independently in the community.
The Havebury Housing Partnership has been involved with promoting the independence of elderly residents within communities for several years and has successfully supported many residents in the Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill areas already.
Consideration is now being given to expanding this service as a pilot, to all elderly and disabled residents in the community.
What help is available through the service?
Housing – including energy efficiency, home maintenance, home safety and security.
Financial Advice – claiming benefits, managing debt or accessing home improvement grants.
Health & Wellbeing – organising aids & adaptations, home care or accessing local exercise/fitness programmes.
Social & Community Links – identifying local events, clubs, joining community groups, or accessing local education programmes.
Independent Living Advice – organising home help, gardening or handyman services.
You do not need to be a Havebury tenant to access this pilot service.
Assessing your support needs
An interview will be conducted in the privacy and comfort of your own home at a time that is convenient to you. You can invite a family member or friend if this would make you feel more comfortable.
Making the most of your interview:
The independence adviser will be able to cater for many differing aspects surrounding your circumstances. The aim is to organise the support you require to live independently in your home or offer advice and guidance to help you achieve your goal.
