Supported Living

Supported accommodation

Havebury has a wide range of sheltered accommodation. In all, there are 12 schemes, each with a dedicated Scheme Manager located in Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill, Clare and five other villages.

We aim to provide sheltered housing that offers residents a permanent tenancy, a safe and comfortable environment, independence and a quality housing service.

If you want to know more about sheltered housing, call us on 0300 3300 900 or read our Sheltered Accommodation Handbook

We also offer the following services:

Assisted gardening scheme

We understand that older people or those with impairments may have difficulty in maintaining their gardens. If you have no-one to help you manage your garden then call on us! As well as ongoing jobs, the scheme can also provide 'one off' tasks such as grass and hedge cutting.

Assisted decorating scheme

This scheme is available to tenants who are over 65 or who have a disability. Funding for the scheme is limited. If you would like any further information on our gardening or decorating schemes, please contact us on 0300 3300 900.

Housing adaptations

Housing adaptations can include a range of measures which assist people to lead more fulfilling lives. Stair riders, grab rails and ramps are typically the kind of aids that can be provided, helping people stay in their homes and play an active part in the community.

Havebury no longer undertakes means testing when assessing applications for housing adaptations.

There are two types of adaptations that are carried out: minor and major. Minor adaptations are those that can be dealt with directly by Havebury without the need to involve an assessment from an occupational therapist. Examples are the fitting of grab rails, lever taps and additional stair rails. Major adaptations include level access showers and stair riders. This type of adaptation will require an assessment from an occupational therapist.

What to do

You can make your request to the Customer First occupational therapist. This can be done by calling 08456 023023 or you can contact Havebury on 0300 3300 900.

Havebury will process minor adaptations and Customer First will take responsibility for major changes.
