Havebury and West Suffolk College shortlisted

Havebury Housing Partnership has been shortlisted in the ‘Joint Venture of the Year’ category at the Inside Housing Top 60 Development Awards 2016.

Over 200 students from West Suffolk College were given the opportunity to work alongside local housing association Havebury on the design and build of three houses and four flats in Mitchell Avenue, Bury St Edmunds.

New affordable housing for Bury St Edmunds

Plans were drawn up by students from the college’s construction management and building services courses, before being fine-tuned by Havebury’s consultant Infinity Architects.

Inside Housing’s ‘Joint Venture of the Year’ award is aimed at developments throughout the country that show excellence and added-value through innovative partnerships. Havebury have been shortlisted alongside Places for People, Equity Housing Group, North Ayrshire Council and Willmott Partnership Homes.

Karen Mayhew, Chief Executive at Havebury Housing Partnership, said:

We’re thrilled that this ‘first of its kind’ joint venture between Havebury and West Suffolk College has been recognised in this way.

This collaboration has offered an exceptional educational experience to the next generation of architects and construction workers, whilst providing seven much-needed, affordable homes for the local community.”

The awards will be announced in October 2016.
