A £40,000 Covid‐19 Hardship Fund has been created by our Tenants’ Forum, with grants given out throughout the year. Forum chair Sandy Norris explains that the group gets an annual budget to spend on services and projects that affect tenants and communities. She said:
“We decided wholeheartedly that we needed to help tenants who felt the affect of the coronavirus.
“These are mostly our lower‐paid tenants who were just about managing to pay their rent beforehand. The Tenants’ Forum considers this a key part of our role ‐ tenants looking after tenants.”
We have successfully processed 35 applications, with tenants receiving help for food bills, rent arrears and replacement of faulty items in the home. Other support could include fuel costs or a grant to move into a Havebury home. Havebury Chief Executive Andrew Smith said: “We would like to thank the Tenants’ Forum for this generous decision. It will have a hugely positive effect on our residents who need extra help.”
Do you want to apply for a hardship fund of up to £250? Tenants can call Havebury’s Income and Welfare team on 0300 3300 900, selecting options 2, 2 and 3.
