When choosing which five estates we would clean up, we looked at the data we had for fly-tips. The areas we chose for the week had the highest levels of reported fly-tipping.
During the week, we were joined by West Suffolk Council, idverde and Suffolk Constabulary to show how we actively work with our partners right across the communities we serve. We also facilitated the use of large skips from Culford Waste, to allow residents to get rid of unwanted items.
We were on hand to chat to residents and the wider community about issues they may be having and all volunteers were able to help themselves to a free ice cream, which was much appreciated in the heat!
On Monday and Tuesday, schools from the local area also got involved and did a great job of litter picking. West Suffolk Council also took the time to educate them on how to recycle and the importance of keeping their communities tidy and free from fly-tips.
Lauren Eden our external communications advisor said.
It was a really great week with a healthy turnout. We enjoyed talking to residents about their memories of living in the communities. Some of whom have lived in their homes for over 20 years. We also talked about issues they may be having with grounds maintenance and repairs, and how they wish to communicate with us moving forward. All in all, the clean-up days were a success.”
