The Howard Estate community clean-up

Following the recent success of our community clean-up days, which were part of our 20-year celebrations, we finished the summer on a high by hosting another clean-up day on The Howard Estate in Bury St Edmunds.

On the day we were joined by West Suffolk Council, idverde, Suffolk Constabulary, The Howard Estate Green Hearts and Ellie McCarthy (West Suffolk Councils families and communities’ officer), to show how we actively work with our partners right across the communities we serve. We also facilitated the use of large skips from Culford Waste, to allow residents to get rid of unwanted items.

It was fantastic to see so many tenants and their children turn up to help with the clean-up efforts, and enjoy a free ice cream at the end, to thank them for their hard work.

We were on hand to chat with residents and the wider community about issues they may be having with their homes or community spaces, and West Suffolk Council provided valuable advice with regards to recycling and waste management. Idverde’s clean-up team also went around in their van and collected larger items that tenants were unable to move themselves.

Hayley Lambert, our communications manager said:

“We love getting out into our communities and supporting our tenants to make sure their green spaces remain looking their best. It was great to see so many of our tenants take part on the day. A huge thank you to John Chandler and Vicki Brown of The Howard Estate Green Hearts for helping us promote the day to the local community.”
