Stock condition surveys

A stock condition survey is an inspection to assess the age and condition of parts of your home, such as your kitchen and bathroom. They’re undertaken every five years.

We will also complete an energy audit to assess your home’s efficiency and carry out a health and safety assessment.

As well as being a legal requirement, these surveys make sure your home remains a safe place to live. You can read more about this on the government website.

What to expect on the day of your stock condition survey

One of our in-house surveyors will complete the survey, which should take half an hour.

The survey is completed on the building itself, and you won’t need to move furniture or personal items. All we ask is that you do not smoke while we are in your home and that you control any pets.

We will visually check your home, inside and out, to assess the general structure.

Inside we will look at:

  • kitchen
  • bathroom
  • heating system
  • electrics
  • insulation
  • loft

Outside we will look at:

  • windows
  • doors
  • the roof
  • fences
  • paths that belong to your home

We will need to take photographs during the survey, but we will not take pictures of anything personal.
