What’s in it for you?
Becoming a committee member allows you to share your views on the decisions we make about our resident-facing services and communities.
You will receive up to £2,750 a year plus expenses for things like travel or registered childcare. We will provide you with all the equipment and support you need and are always on hand to answer any questions you have.
The meeting dates are set in advance, so you can plan ahead and balance any work and home commitments.

What will you need to do?
TEC is made up of fellow residents, independent and Board members. You’ll hold us accountable for our performance whilst ensuring we are doing what we say we will when it comes to providing services.
You don’t need any relevant experience to apply to be on TEC. All we ask is that you enjoy being part of a team, can ask us questions and challenge us on things you think we can improve to benefit your fellow residents.
The committee meets four or five evenings a year, usually between 4.30 pm and 7 pm on weekdays. The meetings are typically held online via Microsoft TEAMS, although some may be held in person at our office in Bury St Edmunds. You’ll get plenty of notice of these, and we’ll provide you with all the equipment and support you need.
We will send you some papers to read and understand in preparation for the meetings, and there will be some additional virtual training. As well as meetings, you will also get the opportunity to get out and about in our communities by attending tours of our homes or coming along to a community day. This is a great chance to meet other residents and learn more about our communities.
We also host two all-day strategic planning events, which are usually held in our office in Bury St Edmunds.
