Havebury receive prestigious environmental housing sustainability award
Havebury Housing Partnership has been recognised with a prestigious national award for their commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its properties.
Following a successful in-depth assessment, the affordable housing provider was awarded a Silver status by the Sustainable Homes Index for Tomorrow (SHIFT).
The SHIFT benchmarking scheme is endorsed by the government and analyses the environmental performance of housing assocations representing over 2 million residents nationwide.
The awards, attended by over 500 people from the sector, were announced at a conference for social landlords in Olympia, London on Wednesday and Havebury was awarded Silver status alongside 33 other housing associations.
Philip Sullivan, Director of Operations at Havebury said: “We are delighted to have achieved Silver status for a third time and we strive to continue to improve energy efficiency in our properties - minimising our impact on the environment. We are aiming to reach Gold status in the near future.”
Andrew Eagles, Managing Director of Sustainable Homes, which administers the scheme, said: “These awards are all about recognising progress and achievement in improving the quality of residents’ homes.
Havebury should be proud of the strides they are taking to improve – especially at the moment when cash from the government is so limited. For residents, investing in this stuff means lower bills – as well as a higher quality of life.”
