Our Allocations team have worked hard to achieve 96% occupancy on the 3500 garages we own, generating around £2 million a year.
Empty garages
Our garages remain an important part of the services we provide for residents. When garages are empty, they can quickly fall into disrepair and may attract anti-social behaviour. By keeping garages in use, we can help keep our neighbourhoods safer and better maintained.
Renting garages also helps us generate income that can be reinvested into maintaining homes and services for residents.
Waiting lists
Previously, residents who were interested in renting a garage were added to a waiting list and contacted when one became available. However, by the time a garage became free, people’s circumstances often changed and they no longer needed one. This sometimes meant garages remained empty for longer than necessary.
To make the process easier and quicker, we have removed waiting lists. Residents can now view available garages in real time using an online map. This shows the exact location of each garage, what it is suitable for (such as parking or storage), and the weekly rent.
This allows residents to find and apply for a garage that suits their needs straight away.
Self-service
Once a resident has chosen a garage, the rest of the process can be completed online. Residents can set up a direct debit, receive their tenancy agreement through DocuSign, and sign it electronically.
Once payment has been confirmed and the agreement signed, the system will automatically release the garage key safe code so access can be arranged quickly and easily.
Team support
While much of the process is now online to make things simpler and faster for residents, our team are still here to help if needed.
