Lucy Adams House first opened in September 1998, and it has supported people experiencing homelessness ever since.

Previously named Tayfen House, it was renamed to Lucy Adams House in 2024, in memory of our colleague and resident, Lucy Adams.

Lucy lived in one of our homes and was a member of our Board and Tenants’ Forum, before she joined the team in 2021 as a resident engagement officer.

Our goal is to provide a safe place to stay and help you build a more stable future.

Whatever challenges people have faced, they deserve the chance to make a fresh start and we are here to help them do that.

We also have outlying homes in Bury St Edmunds, which is the next step towards independent living, before moving into a long-term home.

Everyone’s journey is different, so we work with you to set goals that feel right for you. Progress is taken step by step, celebrating what is going well and adjusting when things change.

We can support you with things like:

• Building confidence and life skills
• Managing your tenancy and money
• Looking after your physical and mental health
• Making positive choices and creating routine
• Reconnecting with community, education or employment

You don’t have to have everything figured out when you arrive. That is what we are here for.

Our project assistants and support workers are here around the clock. You will have a dedicated support worker who meets with you weekly and helps you take the steps needed for a more independent future.

We want you to feel heard, respected and empowered during your time with us.

Lucy Adams House is not an emergency accommodation, should you need shelter for tonight you need to call West Suffolk Council on 01284 757178.

We accept referrals from a range of agencies in West Suffolk and are happy to talk you through the process if you are unsure where to start.

Our referral process usually takes around seven working days from the date you or your referrer contacts us.

If you need accommodation, please email us at lucyadamshouse@havebury.com  or call us on 01284 725487.

A member of our team will ask you a few questions over the phone. Once we have got your details, we will set up a time and date for you to come into Lucy Adams House and have a look around, as well as having a chat with one of our support workers to help us identify your support needs, but equally for you to ask any questions you might have.

Lucy Adams House is part of Havebury Homes, a local housing provider offering social homes across East Anglia. Together, we invest in services that build stronger, more inclusive communities.

We believe everyone deserves the chance to feel safe, have hope and build a future they are proud of.
