Yes, you can, but you are unable to apply in the same financial year if you have received a grant already. You can apply every other financial year which runs April – April.

Community Investment Grant applications

We want you to be able to have your say, and engage with us to influence our services as much, or as little as you want.

In 2024-25, £39,416.00 of grant funding was awarded to various community investment projects? It’s important that we invest in our local communities and we want you to help us decide where this funding is spent.

When we receive a community investment grant (CIG) application, we want you to tell us whether you think we should support the local project or not.

Who is applying: New Haverhill Santa
Amount applied for: £4391.40

A bit about the project:

New Haverhill Santa and his sleigh goes around all estates in Haverhill to great children, spreading Christmas cheer with the aim of raising money for  two local charities, REACH Community Projects and Joshua Tarrant Trust. The sleigh visits every area of Haverhill in two hour weekday evening sessions during December. It also appears on Haverhill Market Square on some Saturdays providing opportunities for every member of the community to meet Santa and The Grinch (even Mrs Claus on occasions).

New Haverhill Santa is an entirely voluntary organisation and has no commercial income, every penny raised from the collections is divided between the two local charities.

They are applying for £4391.40 to purchase a 40ft container for the safe, secure and waterproof storage of the the Sleigh and its life size model reindeer. The trailer is too large for conventional storage in a garage, and the current option is no longer watertight.

Who is applying: Clements Primary Academy and Clements Community Group
Amount applied for:
£5,000

A bit about the project:

Clements Primary Academy and Clements Community Group are working together to provide an opportunity for the Clements area of Haverhill to develop the learning, understanding and appreciation of the wider environment.

They are applying for £5,000 to renovate the pond area to ensure that local children and the wider community can develop passion for the environment. The aim of this project is to develop self-esteem, community cohesion and pride in the local area.

This project would ensure that every child at the school would be able to spend at least one afternoon a week every term learning to understand and appreciate the environment as well as learning how to protect and develop the local ecology. The resource would be shared with the Clements Community Group and so available for the Befriending Group (adults with learning difficulties) and Signpost Group (for younger children) as well as open to the community at weekends and during school holidays for a wide range of local groups and clubs to use.

Chalkstone Community Centre – Hearing Loop

The Chalkstone Community Centre was awarded £2,130.90 to fit out their main hall with an Assistive Listening System (Hearing Loop). The Chalkstone Community Centre is a major hub within the community and provides vital services to those living there. By fitting the hearing loop, they want the venue to be a place where people who are audibly impaired can take part, belong, and hear the events clearly.

Jacqueline Lowry from the centre explains “Due to the nature of some of the events that take place in the hall, some of our visitors were finding it hard to hear what was going on. With this hearing loop it means everyone will be able to join in as they are able to hear, the user can tune out the other background noise and focus in. Sunday mornings we host a church service, so all the parishioners will be able to get involved.”
