Ending your tenancy

If you’re moving out of your home, you need to give us four weeks’ notice (we understand there are exceptions to this). Please complete and submit the form below, and we will be in touch with you once we have received it and confirm with you in writing an end date for your tenancy.

If you are completing a mutual exchange, then you do not need to give four weeks’ notice. The notice you give will depend upon the date you transfer.

Complete the termination of tenancy form

We may come and inspect your home at a pre-arranged time. Please allow us access to do this – we must pick up any repairs early so we can re-let the home to somebody else as quickly as possible.

If we find any damage after you have moved out or have to remove any items you left behind, we will charge you for repairing or removing them, and there is a minimum call-out fee of £125. See the table below for details.

Ending your tenancy because you are moving home (including mutual exchanges)
- Please ensure all keys, including those for your windows, communal keys, and fobs, are returned to us. We will have agreed with you where your key should be left or returned.
- Please leave behind your gas or electricity cards.
- Ensure all belongings and rubbish are removed from your home – including gardens, sheds and loft spaces. You may be charged for any belongings left behind.
- Remove any carpets or laminate flooring unless we’ve agreed with you that they can stay.
- All worktops, wall units and cupboards must be in good condition and scratch-free.
- Sheds may be left in they are in good condition.
- Please make sure your rent and other accounts are paid and up to date.
- Remember to tell your council and utility suppliers that you’ve moved, as well as the Department of Work and Pension, if appropriate.

Ending your tenancy in an emergency
- Please ensure you email movinghome@havebury.com as soon as you can to let us know the circumstances surrounding you leaving the property.
- We understand removing all your belongings from your home may be impossible when you leave. This is why you need to tell us as soon as possible after you vacate. We can then work with you to reunite you with your possessions.

- Please leave behind your gas or electricity cards.
- Remember to tell your council and utility suppliers that you’ve moved, as well as the Department of Work and Pension, if appropriate.
- Please ensure all keys, including those for your windows, communal keys, and fobs, are returned to us. We can confirm this with you when you inform us you have left the home.

Ending a tenancy because someone has died
If you want to end a tenancy because someone has died, firstly, we’d like to offer our condolences to you.

Please complete the form below, and we will contact you once we’ve received it. Please ensure you include a forwarding address.
Notice to terminate tenancy on death of resident
- Remember to leave the property in a good, clean condition as any damage will be recharged to the estate.
- Please ensure all keys, including those for your windows, communal keys, and fobs, are returned to us. We will have agreed with you where your key should be left or returned.
- Please leave behind any gas or electricity cards if you know where they are.
- Ensure you remove all belongings and rubbish from the home – including gardens, sheds and loft spaces. You may be charged for any belongings left behind. Your local authority may be able to provide a rubbish collection service for large items – Please get in touch with them for more details.
- Remove any carpets or laminate flooring unless we’ve agreed with you in advance that they can stay.
- All worktops, wall units and cupboards must be in good condition and scratch-free.
- Sheds may be left in they are in good condition.
- The estate is responsible for paying the rent up to the last day of the tenancy. If the rent account is in arrears on the date the tenancy ends or repairs are discovered after the tenancy has ended, the estate will be recharged accordingly.
