Equality and Diversity at Havebury Housing Partnership
Havebury has an equality action plan that outlines how we are improving or will improve access to our services and employment. Our Equality and Diversity Forum, which consists of tenants, employees and representatives from external partners, assist in producing the plan.
Some of the actions will come as a result of Equality Impact Assessments on our policies and procedures. The equality action plan is a working document. Therefore, it is likely to change over time as we reflect the latest views as to how we can further improve access to our services.
End Racism This Generation
Havebury has made a pledge to be part of the awareness and advocacy campaign by Runnymede Trust to ‘End Racism This Generation’. The campaign aims to inspire action to tackle racial inequality within the UK. By pledging to take specific actions we hope that we can do our part to help end racism in the UK. Equality and Diversity Policy
Havebury recognises that people who provide and use its services come from many diverse backgrounds, with different experiences and needs. The Equality and Diversity policy aims to ensure that no one is received less favourable treatment because of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, cultural background, sex, sexual orientation, disability, domestic circumstances, pregnancy, illness, age, employment status, marital status, physical appearance, membership of trade unions or political beliefs. This policy also includes Havebury's Single Equality Scheme, which outlines how we will meet our legal and regulatory duties in promoting equality and removing unlawful discrimination. Colour Overlay Cards
We now have a selection of colour overlay cards available to use in our Bury Office. Colour overlay cards can help some people to read documents easier. If you would benefit from using a colour overlay when in our offices please let a member of our Reception team know.
The Pocket Guide to Faiths, Beliefs and Cultures
This is a handbook designed to enrich our knowledge of some of the traditions, religions and beliefs that exist within our community.
Equality and Diversity Action Plan
This action plan outlines our commitment to promoting Equality and Diversity and defines the
initiatives and actions we are committed to completing from 2016. The Equality and Diversity Forum was involved in the development of this action plan and also monitors its progress on a quarterly basis.
Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs)
EIAs offer an opportunity for Havebury to think carefully about the impact of our work on tenants, local people, stakeholders and members of staff. If necessary, we can then take action that will promote equality for all and improve the services we offer. By carrying out EIAs, Havebury may also ensure that the services we provide fulfil the requirements of anti-discrimination and equalities legislation.
Furthermore, all of our policies and procedures are scheduled a further EIA between 2011 and 2015. The full EIA schedule lists both the date of the full assessment and the policy of procedure's general review date.
Stonewall Work Place Equality Index
The index takes into account a range of key indicators including a confidential questionnaire of lesbian, gay and bisexual staff.
Stonewall works with employers to promote equality for lesbian, gay and bisexual employees and publishes an employers' performance index every year. It measures how successful organisations are in providing confidence, support and security for lesbian, gay and bisexual employees to be open about their sexuality at work. This is done by assessing employers across eight areas of good practice including training and development, monitoring, employee policies and how they work with their lesbian, gay and bisexual community.
Havebury aims to break into the Top 100 in the future, following the inclusion of new 'equality courses' as part of our Learning and Development programme and by continuously looking to follow best practice and increase awareness.
Havebury are proud to announce that in 2015 we become a member of Inclusive Employers. Established in May 2011, Inclusive Employers are the UK’s first and leading membership organisation for employers looking to build inclusive workplaces. Inclusive Employers are responsible for providing creative engaging initiatives to build inclusive cultures, support us in developing ways to increase inclusion within the workplace and share best practice.
